Georgia Vacation- Zoo Atlanta

It has been a long time since Kris or I have been to the zoo. Zoo Atlanta is a smaller zoo than the Phoenix Zoo but it still took us a good part of the day to see everything. The zoo was probably Kaylee's favorite activity that we did. She love animals and loves being outside. The weather was cool for the girls but perfect for us. We had a good time. I have a ton of pictures of the animals and I really had to refrain from putting lots more pictures in.

Lauren and Kaylee

Kaylee made it through most of the day at the zoo but just couldn't stay awake any longer... or maybe she didn't like the exhibit that we were in... snakes, reptiles, and more.

Snow Leopard

Tiger

The tortoise and the hare... we just thought this was an unusual picture!

The lion was trying to hide but we found him.

Kaylee and Lauren in a nest. It's pretty difficult getting a picture of an 11 month old and an almost 3 year old. They both wouldn't smile or look at the camera at the same time. Oh well, they were having fun.

Kaylee was trying hard to walk and loved to be down. That's probably why she was so worn out at the end of the day!

Kaylee walking more...

The zoo has a playground so when we were all done, we let the girls play for a little while. Kaylee loved the slide...

...even without mom going with her!

Lauren wasn't too sure about the slide so I went with both the girls. Before we left, Lauren decided the slide was fun and she could do it herself. Then, she didn't want to leave, of course.

Georgia Vacation- Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park

So, I am not really all that interested in history probably because I have a hard time remembering what happened when and between who. Well, it was interesting to go to this park while we were in Georgia. If nothing else, I enjoyed being outside and enjoying the scenery, even though it was cold and rainy on and off that day. Kennesaw Mountain was one of the first battlegrounds between the north and south in Georgia during the Civil War. (I tried to explain things the best I could but I'm not sure that I got all the facts right.)
A tunnel that was being made by the Federals but the Confederates evacuated so it was never finished.
Illinois Monument
The two sides faced off here in this area. I couldn't imagine fighting in a war, especially when they line up and shoot at each other.
Kaylee was tired and cold and finally gave in!
This cabin was used as headquarters for one of the sides.
A canon- The mounds of dirt surrounding the canon are said to be the originals.
Could you imagine getting the canons up to the top of this hill?
Brandalyn and Lauren... I just thought it was a good picture!
Canons
The "ditches"/earthworks were made by the troops so they could fight, hide, and probably move around easier.

Guns... one of Kris' favorite things
More guns... can you guess who had the camera?

Georgia Vacation- Swinging

Kaylee would live outside if we would let her. She loves to swing.
Who is having more fun... Kaylee or Lauren?
So cute!

Georgia Vacation- Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world. There were quite a few cool exhibits and things to look at. Of course, the pictures don't do it justice.
Jellyfish
Coral Reef and fish
There was this little hallway that you could crawl through, so Kris and Kaylee are on the other side of the tank (I'm not sure how to explain it so it will make sense, sorry)
Alligators
Spider Crabs
Beluga Whales

Georgia Vacation- Stone Mountain Park

My older sister, Brandalyn, and her family live in Georgia and Kris and I hadn't been out to visit them in the almost three years that they have been there. We flew out together on April 9th and Kris stayed for a week and then came home. Kaylee and I stayed for two weeks and came home on April 23rd. We crammed most of our adventures into the first week while Kris was there and then just hung out for the second week. Mike was in Frace working in a lab, so we didn't get to see him while we were there.

Stone Mountain Park- If you look closely there are 3 men on horses carved into the mountain. (I think they were generals.)

Atlanta Skyline (A view from on top of Stone Mountain)

Kris, Brittany, and Kaylee on top of Stone Mountain (We rode a little cable car to the top and then hung out for a little while, enjoying the pretty views and the cool breeze.)

Trees and a church steeple ( I just can't get over how thick and green the trees and the undergrowth was there. I guess that's what happens when you get rain!)

This is looking down onto the grass where we took the first pictures. Thank goodness for fences to make sure you don't fall, but I still don't care for heights!
Kaylee enjoying her freedom and being able to play on Stone Mountain.

Can I get that rock before I get caught? We were surprised how well Kaylee moved around on the uneven surfaces. Oops, I forgot her shoes that day!

Lauren and Kaylee enjoying a stroller ride together.

Kaylee's cute mohawk! Her rubberband came out of her hair, probably with a little help from Kaylee. This is what her hair looks like even after she wakes up in the morning. It loves to stand up on its own. We were waiting for the laser and fireworks show to start. It was pretty neat.

Just like Daddy

Kaylee and Kris are alike in more ways than one. Kris' mom is always telling me just how much Kaylee is like Kris when he was little. When Kris wants something to drink, he would rather have a Dr. Pepper than anything else. Kaylee doesn't care what it is. However, we tried giving her a drink of Root Beer and she spit it out. Dr. Pepper was another story!!

Give me more, daddy!! I gave Kaylee a drink of a juice box one day, and that was the last drink I got. If she likes something, good luck getting it back!!

Opening Diamondbacks Game

Every year, my mom's family gets a whole bunch of tickets to the Diamondbacks Game. Kris and I haven't gone for the past three years because of school and then I was 8 months pregnant with Kaylee last year. We were excited to go and have some fun.

Stealth fighters (They fly over really fast, but I love watching them for a few brief moments.)
National Anthem
The flag looks so small, but it is really pretty big. We were up on the top deck behind home plate.

Kaylee loved the planes and the fireworks. She was quite mezmerized. I don't think Kris and I realized we were in this picture!

I'll try my best!

While I was in Georgia for two weeks visiting my sister, she decided to set up a blog for me. (She and everyone else, got tired of waiting for me to do it!) I'm not sure how often I will post to it, but I will try to keep up and figure out how to do all the cool things.
